Senior Accountant (Senior Regnskapsfører)

As our Senior Accountant, you will help build up our processes in accounting and ensure that the relevant activities are taken care of professionally. You will have a high degree of responsibility, both in the planning and execution necessary to build this function. You will interact closely with other functions, mainly with finance and asset management, but also project development and investment management. You will also interact closely with our local partners in the various African countries where we operate. In this role, you will have great opportunity to shape our accounting function and contribute to the further development and value creation of the company. You will report to the CFO.
This position is especially suited for you if you have an interest in sustainability, renewable energy, and impact investment in Africa. You will be working in an entrepreneurial environment, expected to take own initiative to build out our accounting function, while having an integrated approach towards all aspects of the business.
We are an international organisation with employees spread out across the globe, but most of us at our head office in Oslo, Norway. You will be expected to be on-site in our Oslo offices for a significant part of the time and therefore ideally based in or around Oslo, but this can be flexible to some extent.
Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting of transactions, both for the Norwegian holding company and for local international subsidiaries
- Liaise with local accountants and tax advisors in the countries where the company has subsidiaries
- Help prepare budget forecasts and liquidity reports
- Prepare financial statements on time
- Handle group consolidation and monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
- Handle quarterly and annual reporting
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Help ensure efficient and accurate billing operations
- Ensure timely bank payments
- Coordinate tax computation and the preparation of tax returns
- Maintain updated balance sheet, cash flow, and profit/loss statements
- Audit financial transactions and documents
- Reinforce the relevant data management within accounting and finance
- Help design and implement process improvements for efficient accounting activities
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies and regulations
Requirements
- 3+ years of work experience as an Accountant
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including IFRS, and ideally also Norwegian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (N-GAAP)
- Hands-on experience with accounting software
- Advanced MS Excel skills, ideally also PowerBI
- Experience with general ledger functions
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
- Minimum BSc in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant degree
- Authorization by the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet) or other certification is advantageous
- Experience of working with international subsidiaries, especially in Africa, also highly valued
- Relevant language skills is a plus, but English is the only requirement
- We are a fairly small organisation in a phase of rapid growth, so the person joining us should be open to and flexible towards helping out where needed.
