Postdoctor position at Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences, Department of Oncology at Akershus University Hospital

Job description
The research project Creating Immunity to Eradicate Early Metastasis in Colorectal Cancer received funding by the Norwegian Cancer Society from 2021. A large part of the project relies on the scientific contribution from a bioinformatician/biostatistician with a biomedical background or a biologist with strong data handling skills. Previous experience in analysis of multiscale biological data is a strong qualification for a successful applicant to the Postdoctor position. The position is available for 24 months with the possibility of extension for a skilled employee.
Project description Patients with a common subtype of cancer in the large bowel (colorectal cancer; CRC) that has spread to other organs hold a disease that is not recognized by the immune system. Supported by our previous research, we believe that the immune system can be induced to recognize this specific CRC subtype by treating the patients with a common chemotherapy regimen over a short period of time. Thereafter the patients are given cancer immune therapy with the ultimate aim of eradicating the metastases. The postdoctoral project will contribute in exploring biomarkers that may better select CRC patients for this experimental treatment.
