Technical Officer -- Ørland, Norway
Leonardo Helicopters has a contract with the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security to support the new AW101 Norwegian All Weather Search and Rescue Helicopter (NAWSARH). As part of this program, the company has established a multi-discipline in-country liaison team.
The liaison team shall be responsible for the coordination and delivery of integrated logistics support (ILS) elements on behalf of the company to ensure AW101 Search and Rescue (SAR) Helicopter availability.
We are looking for an experienced aircraft engineer or engineer to fill the role of Technical Officer at the Ørland SAR Base. Accountable to the Maintenance Manager, you will be the Leonardo Helicopters point of contact at the SAR Base in relation to all technical matters. You will work closely with both the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNORAF) maintenance and operations personnel, encouraging integration and a one-team approach in the day to day operation of the AW101 SAR Helicopter.
Your main activities will include:
- Resolving technical queries within your approval authority or forwarding more complex queries to the Leonardo engineering organization for resolution
- Understanding operational needs and assisting local maintenance planning
- Direct liaison with Squadron operational personnel
- Supporting AW101 maintenance and operations, with required data and fault diagnosis
- A collaboration with the Maintenance Manager, ensuring all business is conducted in compliance with EMAR 145 Regulations, the Maintenance Organization Exposition and the local Operating Procedures Manual.
- Suggest improvements to Technical Publications, Support & Test Equipment and Tooling.
- Report aircraft performance and maintenance reliability to the Leonardo organization.
- To maintain a flexible approach to supporting the NAWSARH program anywhere in Norway at short notice for extended periods, embracing irregular work patterns best suited to the customer's need
- Coordination of maintenance personnel during Base Maintenance activities
- Oversight and coordination of maintenance that may be due to uninstalled assets held by Leonardo.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Applicable technical qualification such as a formal apprenticeship or engineering degree
· Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience of which at least 2 years with relevant multi-engine helicopters
· Remain flexible and responsive to short notice customer requirements
· Be self-motivated and able to Work on own initiative as well as within larger teams
· Possible effective coaching, counseling and team building skills and able to motivate staff
· Possess good communication skills
· Confidently act challenging conversations. List, understand and respect different views and ways of working
· IT literate with all basic desktop applications and company standard software
· Integrity and professional approach
· Be fluent in both Norwegian and English.
· Possess business and commercial awareness
TRAINING
The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a period of training at the company's facilities in Yeovil (UK) and on the job experience in Sola (approx. 3 and 6mths respectively).
