About the position
The project “A genomic approach to investigate pelvic spine and body armor reduction in Norwegian sticklebacks” will investigate genomic features linked to evolutionary processes using threespine sticklebacks as the model system. The analytical approach is mainly based on basic molecular biology, Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing, and corresponding bioinformatics. The project aims to analyze whole mitogenome and nuclear genome sequences in light of evolutionary biology, and in particular features linked to large structural rearrangements, transposable elements, introns, low-complexity repeats, and rDNA arrays.
Faculty of Biosciences and Aquaculture at Nord University, Norway, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a three-year PhD position in genome biology and genomics. The position is located in Bodø. Candidates are subject to Nord University’s residency requirement. The preferred start date is set for January 1, 2025, though this is flexible.
