Energy Systems Test Engineer
In ABB Energy Industries Subsea we are designing and testing equipment for operating subsea where extreme reliability and a long design life are among the requirements. We have an advanced lab for testing of electronic components and modules, both for operation in Nitrogen at 1 bar and at pressure in dielectric liquid. We conduct accelerated life testing and coordinate temperature and vibration tests.
In addition, we undertake R&D proof-of-concept testing, for example of new energy systems and have a prototyping assembly facility for the fabrication of subsea control modules.
We are looking for a new colleague to join our team- could that be you?
Typical Roles and Responsibilities:
- Together with the test engineer, define and review the testing plan and schedule
- Define the details, test sequences, methods, and procedures
- Coordinate, prepare and run the tests
- Analyze and evaluate the test results and prepare test reports in partnership with other team members
- Ensures that prototypes are correctly assembled, tests are correctly performed and that activities are thoroughly reported for internal and external use
- Help with the day-to-day management of the lab activities, HSE, purchasing of test equipment and test infrastructure necessary to meet project test demand
- Upkeep and maintenance of equipment
- Propose improvements to existing test techniques based on experience and knowledge of new trends and equipment
You should have a background (BSc level or equivalent) in Electrical or Power Engineering and a passion for the practical. Some years experience would be an advantage -- for example from prototyping, development and testing.
Are you able to work well with others and combine analytical skills with the practical? We appreciate a focus on looking for simple, practical solutions. We have a very strong focus on HSE and you need to be able to operate and perform in a dynamic and challenging environment.
We expect you to work hard, but we also give a lot of freedom and opportunities to grow and development your skills.
If you are curious and interested, we will strongly recommend you to apply for this position through the ABB Jobportal so we can get to know you better and to share more about our unique work environment.
