PhD-position on Using new ingredients in new consumer products
Jobbnorge ID: 192106
About the position
Peptek is a Nofima project that has led to new knowledge on the technical possibilities regarding new ingredients from using the whole food raw material. This knowledge can now be taken to the next level and into the development of product concepts that are attractive for the consumers.
Nofima wishes to employ a PhD candidate that will focus on finding the best way of transforming knowledge about these ingredients into product concepts. Active consumer participation in innovation and product concept development is an approach often used by companies in the market and very well documented in the literature.
But, there is a need for better methods for doing that as an active innovation process and the measurement of potential benefits from doing so.
The PhD candidate will combine consumer research, innovation and marketing in the development of new product concepts that take into account intrinsic (sensory, shelf life, size, type) and extrinsic (reputation, origin, health, sustainability, labelling, etc.) characteristics. A focus on concepts related to health and the environment and how they are linked to personal benefit and altruism is expected.
The PhD candidate
The PhD candidate will be equally linked (50/50) to the marketing research department in Tromsø and sensory, consumer and innovation in Ås. A supervising team will be in place, including perspectives from the two departments and with input from food processing, sensory and other expertise from the whole supply chain, covered by Nofima and the affiliated university, depending on the main location of the PhD candidate. The candidate could be based either in Tromsø or Ås areas and travelling between sites is expected.
