At the company's head office in Oslo, there is an open position as HSE Improvement Manager.
The HSE Improvement Manager will be heading a small team located in Oslo and Manilla. The HSE team's main objective is to ensure that the Company complies with relevant legal and stakeholder requirements, and to continuously improve Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
The HSE Improvemenet Manager should therefore be characterised as an analytical and structured HSE Expert with great communications-, and hands on execution skills.
The HSE Improvement Manager is responsible for the continuous improvement processes by analysing information, suggesting and implementing improvements. The role is also responsible for development and implementation of the HSE annual plan and owner of the Safety Management System.
The right candidate has strong knowledge of organisational and human safety and relevant industry-knowledge is an advantage. To succeed in this role, it is essential to be structured, analytical and possess good people-, planning-, and decision-making skills.
Höegh LNG is centrally located at Skøyen in Oslo and the position will report to SVP Fleet Management.
Professional Responsibilities and Authority
Job description
- Responsible for development and implementation of the HSE annual plan
- Owner of the HSE improvement processes and secure that they are efficiently implemented in the offices and onboard the vessels
- Responsible to perform regular analysis of event reports, inspections, audits, vetting and propose HSE improvements
- Owner of the Safety Management System; Conformity, structure, document control and compliance
- Owner of Safety Campaign and the Internal Investigation process
- Responsible for maintaining and keeping the Risk Register of Fleet Management updated
- Process owner of Risk Assessments and MoC. Ensure that the processes are comprehensive and efficiently implemented on the vessels and office
- Facilitator of the Company Management Review process, Experience Transfer and Best Practice Sharing
- Application owner of software used for the Safety Management System and the HSE-improvement process and provide system and process training
- DPA - Designated Person Ashore as per ISM Code

A successful candidate to this role has strong knowledge of organisational and human safety, and relevant industry-knowledge is an advantage.
To succeed in this role, it is essential to be structured, analytical and possess good people-, planning-, and decision-making skills, with a high degree of hands-on management style
As a leader, the HSE Improvement Manager must be able to set performance objectives targets and at the same time empower, inspire and motivate his/her team. In this context, communication skills are of the utmost importance.

What do you need to know for this position?
With regards to education, we expect a relevant University degree at a MSc level as a minimum, and furthermore:
- Experience of working with organisational and human safety, preferably from the gas carriers/tankers or the Oil & Gas Industry
- Good knowledge of the maritime regulatory regime (IMO, Class, Flag), industry standards (ISO & OSHAS) and HSE-requirements specified by Oil & Gas Companies (OCIMF)
- Experience with Safety Management Systems, preferable also from development and maintenance of Management Systems
- Knowledgeable and competent with a clear and reflective approach to problem solving.
- Solid experience from international organizations and working with senior global Executive management
- Project management skills
- Solid computer skills
- Proficiency in English
