Aker Solutions' Front End Subsea Facilities is based at Fornebu, Norway. The Power & Controls Team is a world leader within products and systems related to subsea production, advanced subsea compression and boosting systems for the global oil and gas industry. This includes system and delivery competence within Power Modules for subsea variable speed drives, circuit breakers, control power distribution units, transformers and electrical connection systems. It also includes engineering and projects related to electrification / power from shore, power systems onshore / on platforms, as well as opportunities within future offshore wind power and green energy technology.
We are looking for an Engineer / Senior Engineer -- Subsea High Voltage (HV) Connections .
You will be part of one of the industry's leading subsea / electrical power engineering teams and will work on a variety of tasks in various phases from studies, FEED, execution projects and commissioning support. There are also possibilities for you to develop your skills within electrical power subsea equipment, system design and engineering. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop of new technology and be involved in the delivery of electrical equipment for systems like subsea compression / boosting, power-from-shore system, offshore wind power and electrical systems for platforms and onshore plants.
We are now starting up the world's most exciting onshore, offshore and subsea project, Jansz Subsea Compression FEED, and you will be involved in design, engineering and qualification of subsea power products, such as transformers and HV connections for this project.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Technical management of development and delivery of subsea high voltage connection systems
- Participate in development projects related to HV mating mechanism, cable terminations, penetrators & HV connections
- For project delivery: focus on specification, follow-up, testing, installation of the HV penetrators and connectors into subsea power equipment, such as pumps/compressors, transformers, VSDs, circuit breaker modules, DEH systems etc.
- Participate in development and qualification activities together with suppliers and clients, as well as research organisations and universities
- Cover all relevant phases from Front End studies, FEED and tender support, as well as participate in delivery projects, fabrication, test support and commissioning
- Participate in R&D projects and customer delivery of subsea power system components together with alliance partners and sub-suppliers within variable speed drives, circuit breakers, transformers, electric motors, HV connectors, and power cables
- Be a team player and key contributor in groundbreaking subsea power / processing / compression projects
Qualifications and Personal Qualities:
- B.Sc. / M.Sc or similar in Electrical Power or Mechanical Engineering
- Some experience (typically up to 3-5 years) with industrial/offshore/subsea high voltage power systems and components (VSDs, motors, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems etc.), as well as follow-up of delivery projects, is desired.
- Structured extrovert with the ability to plan work and manage self and others
- Ability to deliver and active in chasing results
- Some travel to be expected in periods
- Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both within a team and, in some cases, with limited supervision
