Base & Kitchen Manager Sea Kayak Center
We are hiring our base manager for the upcoming 2019 season.
Daily work will entail overlooking and managing all aspects of running our new Sea Kayaking Center in Gudvangen with the following responsibility areas:
- Managing a team of 4-10 staff communicating in English.
- Set up staff rosters for our base workers predicting and matching demand.
- Planning purchases, deliveries and packing of the food needed for our guided Sea Kayaking tours - ensuring the work load can be met and tour supplies handed over to our guides on time and fully checked.
- Delegate and ensure all outside areas, customer areas and our own work space is kept clean and presentable, ensuring morning, mid day and evening routines are followed.
- Ensure things such as our garage area, laundry and daily clean up procedures are monitored and training provided where needed.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness standards are met at all times and that HACCP measures are implemented and following throughout the season by all staff.
- Develop our in-house menus for our brick oven baked Pizza Neapolitan's and ensure consistency in dough making, ingredients and final product.
- Baking Neapolitan pizza in public and being able to train 1-2 other members of our team to do the same
- Work closely with our office crew and guide crew to ensure peaks are met and that any issues are resolved quickly
You must have previous experience from a commercial kitchen and working in a very dynamic environment where frequent changes in demand and priorities can occur.
Your management still involves leading by example and you will be working with the team and not office based.
You have:
- Knowledge of HACCP routines and the ability to implement these with a team
- A relaxed management style and good energy to share with the team
- A passion for Italian Pizza
- A desire to work with a young dynamic and energized team of international people
- The ability to put in the hard work and energy it takes at peak periods
Pay rates as per qualifications and previous experience

Krav til kompetanse
- Minimum 1 year kitchen management experience
- Fluent in English in speech and writing
- Computer Experience, ability to create documentation needed for the kitchen staff
Ønsket kompetanse
- Drivers License Class B
- Certificates in safe food handling procedures or similar

We employ 35 staff during summer in a mixture of positions ranging from Sea kayak guides, base crew, office staff and drivers. The Sea Kayak centre is open 7 days a week during our season and staff are scheduled according to bookings - including weekends. Our kitchen supports our operation and customers, providing meals both during and after tours.
