About the position
A 100 % position is available at the University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science as a PhD Research Fellow in Mechatronics, affiliated to the Department of Engineering Sciences, for a period of three years. The position is located, at the present, at Campus Grimstad. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.
Responsibilities
The position is connected to the subject area Cooperation Control of Networked Systems.
In contrast to general systems, network control systems are systems where the control loops are closed through a communication network. The feature is that control and feedback signals are exchanged among the system's components in the form of information packages through a network. Cooperation control and distributed control are enforced using techniques which provide rapid agreement and teamwork between agents allowing effective task performance in self-organizing networks. The challenge is to find a controller that stabilizes the global network with interaction between agents and communication effects (time-delay, quantization, attacks, triggering, packet loss). The research aims to develop a methodology for tackling network modelling and control problems involving cooperating agents. This area has many important applications, such as communications networks, cyber-physical systems, networks of autonomous agents (robots), water distribution networks, electrical power networks, and transportation networks.
