Senior Category Buyer
Our project portfolio includes a large variety of industries including Offshore topside and sub-sea, offshore wind, land-based industry, power and water, aqua, and infrastructure.
The Procurement and Logistic (P&L) department is part of the Energy Industries local business line within ABB Norway. The department is responsible for procurement and logistic activities both in the sales and execution phase of a project. The category buyers are assigned to multiple projects, depending on size and complexity. Due to increased workload, especially within the electrical deliveries, we are looking for a senior category buyer.
Tasks:
• Make sure that all procurement activities are done in compliance with project HSE and Quality plans and in accordance with ABB standards.
• Lead to fulfillment all procurement and logistics activities taken place in ABBs execution projects.
• Cooperate and interact with the bid and proposal team to support a quick and seamless start-up of procurement activities after contract award.
• Responsible for negotiating purchase agreements with suppliers in the project.
• In a timely manner coordinate, manage and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and Purchase Orders (PO) according to the overall project plan.
• Develop, monitor and manage the Procurement Plan for all assigned projects.
• Ensure visibility in execution of Purchase Orders (PO) and provide up to date information to the project team.
• Negotiate cost reductions based on budgetary input and targets set by project management and in accordance with guidelines issued by the P&L organization.
• Responsible for conducting kick-off meetings with suppliers, execute bid clarifications, and evaluate bids in order to achieve optimal value for ABB.
• Responsible for informing the Logistics & Trade Specialist about all shipments that need to be planed and provide required information.
• Ensure that issues related to supplier fulfilment of on-time deliveries are managed proactively.
• Responsible for monitoring supplier’s deliveries under the Contracts and as outlined in P&L guidelines.
Requested qualifications/ competences:
• Initiative and responsible person with good teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Efficient and high work capacity to master periodically high workload.
• Able to work both independently and in a team, result-oriented and structured.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English.
• Experience in use of SAP and Microsoft Office programs.
• Technical, Contractual and Commercial understanding.
• Ability to communicate well and professionally with internal and external clients.
• Self-starter.
• Technical degree/Commercial degree, preferably B.Sc. or Master. Lack of formal competence can be compensated by relevant experience.
• Project execution experience.
• Product experience/knowledge.
