About the position
The Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational science is seeking to appoint a limited assignment as lecturer of English in the period from 01.08.2019 to 30.06.2020.
The position is part of the Department of Languages and Literature Studies and report to the Head of Department. The department is represented at five different campuses (Drammen, Horten, Bø, Porsgrunn and Notodden), and the position in question is situated in Vestfold.
Responsibilities and duties
The Department of Language and Literature Studies offers courses and supervision as part of in-service programs within the subject English where the appointed candidate is expected to contribute. We are looking for applicants who will contribute to the education of teachers of high professional quality.
Distance learning and e-learning comprise a priority area for the university, and the successful candidate must therefore be able to supervise and teach students using online tools and digital media. The position may be assigned teaching at other campuses within the University of South-Eastern Norway.
Qualifications
The candidates must fulfil the following requirements:
- a MA or equivalent in English linguistics/ English literature / English methodology/ English didactics
- excellent oral and written skills in English
The applicants should also preferably
- have some professional experience from/ competence within English didactics/ methodology
- be familiar with or have experience from Norwegian primary or secondary school
Special qualifications in teaching or other educational activities will be emphasized.
Because the administrative language is Norwegian, the successful applicant must be able to communicate with both students and colleagues in one of the Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Swedish or Danish).
A large degree of the work of the faculty is carried out within subject teams, and therefore the candidates must be motivated to sharing his or her knowledge and promoting departmental collegiality. Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.
Applicants should preferably possess pedagogical competence involving at least a half-year Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, or a shorter university college pedagogy course, and a minimum of one year's teaching experience.
To be appointed as assistant professor (universitetslektor), applicants must hold a postgraduate degree from a university, university college or equivalent, and relevant research qualifications beyond a master's degree and/or relevant work experience.

Salary
Assistant professor (universitetslektor) (code 1009): NOK 430 100 - 600 200 a year. Salary placement depending on seniority. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee's salary to the state pension plan.

The Academic Appointments Board is responsible for appointments to academic positions at University of South-Eastern Norway. Qualified applicants will be called in for interviews and must be prepared to give a practice lecture.
