Senior Geophysicist
The chosen candidate will be joining Aker Energy's Reservoir Development team in Oslo. Aker Energy's Reservoir Development team is responsible for establishing drainage strategies and well plans in close collaboration with the rest of the organization. It is necessary that the candidate is a good team player and able to interface with other technical disciplines in an efficient manner.
The successful candidate is expected to actively seek advice and perspectives from colleagues and leaders within the Reservoir Development team, the organization at large and from other cooperating sources. All work within the candidate's area of responsibility is expected to be planned and executed safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure competence and experience transfer through open communication and will participate in relevant internal/external networks.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Well planning of Pecan development wells including overburden evaluation
- Responsible for coordination of geophysical analysis for well planning
- Ensure reservoir priorities are maintained through planning and drilling of new wells
- Provide and maintain inputs to asset reservoir models
- Support evaluation of reservoir opportunities for the asset
- Ensure that all work, tasks and projects are carried out to achieve the overall objectives for the fields, including HSE, technical integrity, compliance, production and cost considerations
- Interaction across multiple disciplines, not only within the Reservoir Development team, but also across the company and with our licensed partners and the relevant authorities
- Coach and mentor junior staff
Qualifications & personal attributes:
- Minimum M.Sc. plus 10 years' of experience in reservoir geophysics
- Well-developed geophysical skills and experience within the areas of field development, production and well planning / execution
- Preferred experience includes deep-water/West Africa drilling experience, as well as experience working in new country start-ups
- Ability to integrate effectively across disciplines and communicate uncertainties (risks and opportunities)
- Experience within seismic processing and/or 4D evaluation is a positive
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and effective interpersonal skills required
