Global finance advisor

The position is placed in the Finance and Compliance Unit in the International Programmes and Preparedness Department of the Norwegian Red Cross in Oslo.  The Finance and Compliance Unit provides effective, relevant and timely finance support to the department, including quality assurance and compliance towards Norwegian Red Cross and back donors financial and administrative regulations.
The purpose of the position is to maximise the impact of Norwegian Red Cross international humanitarian funding through well planned and coordinated financial management processes.
You will contribute to this goal by planning and coordinating the department’s annual finance processes, and by coordinating development of training material and competency building for finance in the international portfolio. In addition the role will support development of guidelines, tools, procedures and other initiatives in the finance team.

Tasks

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the annual finance processes, including budgeting, internal reporting and end of year closing. Ensure the processes cater to the needs of the regional and country offices, and also respond to the organizational requirements. Ensure that processes and communication is well coordinated with other units and departments.
• Provide financial expertise to ensure that processes are efficient and live up to technical standards.
• Support and contribute to new development improvement projects within the international department.
• Ensure that financial capacity building tools are available and coordinate the briefing/ training material to ensure streamlined onboarding and competency development.

Qualifications

 We are searching for a person with the following qualities: 

• Three years of proven experience with financial management of projects and programmes.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance or similar. Four additional years of relevant experience can replace this. 
• Excellent relational skills, and very good ability to cooperate and share competency 
• Advanced user of digital financial management tools (Microsoft 365 FO, excel, others) 
• Proactive, systematic and detailed oriented working approach. Proven experience with and ability to perform financial analysis. 
• Fluency in English. Working proficiency in Norwegian (B2-Bergenstest), other languages are an advantage.
