Trained Chef/ Sous Chef in the mountains!
Work period: 28 December 2019 - 25 May 2020 (our winter season)
- 01 July - 01 October 2020 (our summer season)
The kitchen at Finse 1222: We put an emphasis on local and fresh produce. We do not consider ourselves a place for fine dining, but our food shall be surprisingly good. All our food is made from scratch. We are in a continuous process of developing our kitchen. Food deliveries are once a week with the freight train from Bergen.
Our Kitchen Team:
1 Head Chef, 1 Chef 2nd in charge/ Sous Chef, 1 Chef, 1 Kitchen Porter and 1 Breakfast Chef.
Our dinner serving:
We serve a 3-course set menu every evening 19.00-21.00. Summer: 70-120 pax for dinner per night. Winter: 20-160 pax for dinner per night.
In addition, we serve 2-course lunches for groups and we have à la carte every day in the summer and weekends during winter.
Work duties:
· Responsible for the kitchen when Head Chef is off
· Participate in developing menus
· Be able to make a 3-course for 25 pax on your own
· Mise en place (easy build-up: fish, meat, soups, stocks etc)
· Doing service
· Closing the kitchen (cleaning, defrosting, check info for next day)
· Ensure food safety (IK-Mat, HACCP, Cleaning plan)
· Help with Orders, Inventory and other administrative tasks
· Deliveries together with the rest of the staff
· Ensure that Norwegian Health and Safety standards are up-to date and followed.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
· Certified trained as a cook
· Minimum 2 years' experience as a chef
· You are structured and well organized
· Language: English very well written and spoken
· You have documentation of completing course in HACCP
Personal attributes:
We are looking for an experienced and competent Chef with the ability to motivate and inspire his work colleagues. You are able to work well with others and help to create a good working atmosphere in the kitchen, as well as in the other departments at the hotel. You are professionally skilled and wish to deliver food of a high quality.

It is advantageous that you like being surrounded by nature. We do not have any urban activities to offer nearby the hotel. (Finse 1222 is a bit isolated from the rest of the world)

Om bedriften
Finse 1222 is a privately owned, seasonal run hotel, located on the northern side of the Hardanger plateau, situated on the Oslo-Bergan railway line at an elevation of 1222m. The only way to get to Finse is by train (4 hours from Oslo and 3 hours from Bergen).
Finse 1222 opened in 1909, at the same time as the railway line.
Our winterseason:January - mid May. Summerseason: 01 July - 01 October.
We are a member of The Historic Hotels and Restaurants and are Eco-lighthouse certified. We have 6 full-time staff and between 20-35 seasonal workers.
Facts: 41 en suite rooms, restaurant with 150 seating capacity, 3 meeting rooms. 2018: 26 million NOK turnover, 11 800 overnight stays (2018).
Our guests come to Finse for a variety of reasons: to cycle Rallarvegen; to go hiking in the mountains; to go ski-sailing and ski-kiting; to participate in our yearly festivals, to train and prepare for expeditions as well as partaking in company meetings, courses, conferences and get-togethers.
